Aliments ED Foods Adopts Environmentally Friendly Containers for Packaging

Aliments ED Foods announced today that their new, environmentally friendly pails will be put into production this week as the company continues to implement initiatives to reduce its environmental footprint.

Montreal, Quebec, May 26, 2010 - The new pails are manufactured with breakthrough “Diamond Weave Technology” that requires approximately 30% less resin resulting in significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions (GHG). GHG’s are a major contributor to Global Warming. These benefits are achieved with no compromise to stack strength performance or functionality.

“We are making a difference by taking steps towards becoming more green,” said Robert Eiser, General Manager of ED Foods. “In 2008 we established a Sustainability Task Force, a cross- functional team dedicated to identifying tangible alternatives that address our environmental impact. The new diamond pails are another example of our commitment towards a greener future.”

ED Foods has already taken several positive steps such as:

  • Reducing their reliance on disposable uniforms by over 75%
  • Switching from regular plastic bags to rapidly biodegradable bags
  • Implementing a complete cardboard recycling program
  • Investment in newer, more energy efficient office equipment

ED Foods’ customers will begin to receive products the new “Diamond” pails in the 4kg to 5kg pack size over the next few weeks and months.
